Nikki Schmidt, LAC

Therapy is a daunting process! When you’re ready to start, I’d like to be the therapist walking down the path of healing and growth with you.

My goal is to create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment where you can be your authentic self without fear of judgment. I utilize a multicultural, client-centered, trauma-responsive framework to empower my clients and help them cultivate authenticity. I also use an integrated approach, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness. Other techniques I use include creativity, humor, motivational interviewing, and attachment theory. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, shame, grief, BIPOC issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, body image issues (in larger and/or disabled bodies), and generational trauma. I also have experience with neurodiverse clients, such as those with PTSD, ADHD, and high-masking ASD. Many of my clients are great at intellectualizing their emotions but struggle sitting with and feeling them.

Since no two clients are the same, we will work together to create a path towards healing that works best for you. All people are unique and multifaceted, so our work together will be the same! We will use a creative approach to address your needs and any barriers that arise.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my animals (a cat, dog, and chickens), crafting, creating art, listening to books and podcasts, and watching my favorite comfort shows. Spending time in and connecting with nature has become a favorite pastime of mine, whether it is birdwatching, going on long walks, or just sitting in the sunshine.

I am in the office during the late mornings and afternoons. If you think we would work well together, I encourage you to connect with me!
